Syncopy and Legendary Pictures shot Man of Steel in Vancouver and contributed and estimated $100 million of it’s budgets to the city and her inhabitants. But faster than a speeding bullet, the same two studios are taking the Man of Steel 2/Batman Vs. Superman sequel across the Great White North to Toronto where it’ll be cheaper to film.
The local VanCityBuzz laments: “To date, Premier Christy Clark and the re-elected B.C. Liberals have refused to increase the province’s film credits to a competitive level against those found in Ontario, Louisiana, and even Quebec.”
Quebec, where X-Men Days Of Future Past is set up. Louisiana where Fantastic Four is now set up after also abandoning an estimated $100 million for Vancouver.
Now it’s time for Vancouver to provide stern warnings to states like North Carolina where local politicians have unsuccessfully been trying to strip film incentives from the state.
