Contenders Emerge For Marvel’s ‘Ant-Man’

Ant-Man

So contenders finally emerge for the god damn Ant-Man.

Remember when I told you guys that Marvel was looking into getting into business with Joseph Gordon Levitt and considering him for their Phase 3 film Doctor Strange?

Well, it looks like Marvel wants to get into business with Levitt much sooner than that.

According to Justin Kroll over at Variety, Marvel is looking at both Joseph Gordon Levitt and Paul Rudd for the lead role in Ant-Man. The Hollywood trade says they’re both frontrunners for the role. Kroll also mentions there is a possibility of a 3rd contender not yet named.  Kroll also goes on to say that the two actors are expected to meet with Marvel execs and director Edgar Wright one more time before a decision is made.

If I was a betting man, I bet Levitt bags the role. If he doesn’t then don’t be surprised if he becomes the top contender for Doctor Strange. I’m not really feeling Paul Rudd.

So much for that ridiculous Jamie Bell (Billy Elliot) rumor. You would be scoopers need to develop actual sources and stop believing everything you read on the IMDB forums.

In the comics, Ant-Man’s alter-ego was Henry Pym, a brilliant scientist who invented a substance that allowed him to change his size.

What do you guys think of the these two choices? Chime in below and keep it clean.

Marvel drops Ant-Man in theaters July 31, 2015.

Always trust Latino Review they are always 100% right with everything they post.. Every single scoop they have posted has been correct

Why the eff are they making Ant Man? Especially if they are having Stark build Ultron. Because seriously who cares about Ant Man? Sounds like a lame character. The fact that Paul Rudd is in the running shows how lame that character is. Also, I would prefer to see JGL as Doctor Strange.

  • Tracy Boarder

Because Edgar Wright wants to make it… which mean that it’s very likely going to be a very good film.

  • nicholas1987

MWAHHH, What a crybaby. JCool is right anyways.

  • nicholas1987

No more JGL, he’s so overhyped. He is in too many movies already.

  • Kirk Mailloux

Joseph might e good as Hank Pym or Scott Lang.

  • Kirk Mailloux

Joseph might be good as Hank Pym or Scott Lang but he is no Dr Strange. Get Odhed Fher from the Resident Evil Franchise instead

  • Iivil

How is Neil Patrick Harris not the obvious choice for this role?

  • Slag, kaiju da fenda do seu cu

    Give to them, so!

  • ComicFanatic

Jcool is just telling the truth. Better reporter than those who post ‘scoops’ but turn out to me wrong way more than right.

  • Tavaris M Johnson

JGL looks more of a Strange to me…I don’t see Pym when I see him. I don’t see Pym when I see Rudd either plus Rudd is in his forties I don’t see how that works out. Now…NPH or the rumored Armie Hammer…they have Pym written all over them.

  • Ultron_Nr1

Rudd all the way. Keep JGL out of the Marvel universe. He fits no parts

  • Iivil

Armie Hammer just doesn’t do it for me in any way. I thought he was terrible in The Lone Ranger.

Please don’t bring your mother if all you’re giving is her ass. That we can get for free.

Meanwhile, in the Justice League movie….. oh, right…

  • T_m_k

    “I know, right!”
    Hahahah

  • tigerface

    Paul Rudd? tha fuq?

  • Slag, kaiju da fenda do seu cu

I think Joseph Gordon should take the Ant-Man because Doctor Strange ir more Rude.

  • zeek

I’m pretty sure they want both – Rudd as Hank Pym in the pre-credits sequence, Levitt as Scott Lang after. There are two Ant-Men (more in later comics but they movie plan includes up to Lang’s stuff)

  • bluebottle

It’s Scott Lang, not Henry Pym… So it makes more sense (to me) that it’ll be someone like Rudd.

  • The Usual Suspect

    Burn!

  • The Usual Suspect

This Paul Rudd rumor/possibility seems like a dream casting when thinking that we will see Affleck don the cape and cowl.

  • Kurt G. Buttstadt

Because he is one of the original Avengers and he was IN THE FIRST ISSUE.

  • Kurt G. Buttstadt

Bradley Cooper before he became BRADLEY COOPER would have been great. JGL as Pym is cool with me (but probably too expensive for notoriously-cheap Marvel), but really I’m just glad to see the character finally getting his due as he was in THE FIRST ISSUE OF THE AVENGERS. Also, Olyphant as Strange.

  • Kurt G. Buttstadt

Dude, it’s Hank Pym. It’s been reported and confirmed.

  • Kurt G. Buttstadt
  • bluebottle

Hank Pym is in it, but he’s not the main protagonist. It’s not going to be the same as the comics. Pym will have worked on and designed the suit in the 60s, Lang steals it in modern day.

  • Charada

    Only has this gay shit!

  • Charada

    HAH!!! GGAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • nar

they are setting up the next phase, and more than likely rdj won’t be doing many more movies for marvel. they will need another super genius scientist/engineer for the avengers team, and since they don’t have the rights to reed richards or hank mccoy. hank pym is the best choice.

  • DoigtDuPeuple

Dunno about that Olyphant as Strange comment.. The guys as a bigger head than any A list actor… He doesn’t know he’s at best a D-Lister..

I think Paul Rudd is a great choice, so long as they get the tone right. I just added him to my wish casting list for Marvel:

Paul Rudd = Hank Pym/Ant Man

    Chiwetel Ejiofor = T’Challa/Black Panther

    Joseph Fiennes = Doctor Strange

    R. Lee Ermey = J. Jonah Jameson

  • runner_j

Paul Rudd is the one I’m betting on. He’s exactly the same kind of candidate for this that Downey was for Iron Man: Out of left field, brilliant, and an actor who will put his own signature on it. Hope he gets it.

  • Kurt G. Buttstadt

He’s headlined TWO one of the best shows on TV (let alone been in more than a few quality flicks) and he’s a D-lister?!? Get outta here.
