Return of The Mandarin? Kingsley’s “Secret” Marvel Project

Ben Kingsley, who famously played The Mandarin (if that’s what you want to call it) in “Iron Man 3,” has revealed he’s working on a top secret Marvel project. According to the Belfast Telegraph, Kingsley had this to say:

“It’s a secret Marvel project. I’m not allowed to say any more, you’re going to have to wait and see.”

And when pressed further, he added:

“I was with many members of the crew that were involved in Iron Man 3. It was lovely to see them again. It was great to be with this wonderful family.”

On Marvel, he also said:

“I think they have enormous taste as creative artists. There’s nothing lazy or gratuitous about their work. They are at the top of their game, and they’re great company to keep.”

He couldn’t delve any further because of the secretive nature of the project. But this all begs the question: Is there more in store for his IM3 character? Is he perhaps returning as only a voice? Would Marvel actually cast him in another live action role, set within the same cinematic universe as its other films?

We’ll have to keep an eye on this.

Kingsley will next be seen in “Ender’s Game,” in theaters November 1.

Unless you really ARE The Mandarine faking us out…
    STFU & GTFO!!!

Or the real Mandarine comes and…
    Obliterates him!!!

  • Jugo Aich

They are probably going to rectify the ‘fuck-up’(subjective) in some way, or just salvage whatever they can.

  • Ooogles

    Agents of SHIELD perhaps?

Its the casting session where the limey got the gig. I think this is fucked up by Marvel. It pouring salt in the wounds. Fuck Kevin Feige.

  • Redbull Werewolf

Obviously Mavel has listened to the fanboy backlash and have decided to go with the out that Trevor was a fake persona and kingsly was always the mandarin. I’ve hread that this was suggested and was supposed to be the post credit’s sequence but was axed because it left open the franchise and they were worried RDJ was done. I think alot of IM3 was changed last minute just incase RDJ was done (in reality you could remove him from avengers 2 and other then fan backlash it wouldn’t leave any plots hanging)

  • Hephaestus1

They’ll use him for just another cheap joke. Only with Marvel films that’s always one too many.

  • fungusamongus

he’ll be back as the mandarin. do not forget, he has some means of mental powers, which are magnified by the ring he wears on his left ring finger. the “mento-intensifier”: it magnifies the wearer’s own psionic energy, allowing him to place one or more people under his mental control and to transmit orders to them mentally. Most frequently used to create illusions.”

with this, he could’ve placed killian under his control to develop extremis for his own means and to draw attention away from him. using this power, he could have also confused stark into believing he was as we saw in the movie. we must all remember what ‘usual suspects’ taught us about the oddest or slowest person in the room.
    just something to think about…

  • G33kDave

I agree with your second statement I think that there is a real Mandarin and Killian had heard of him but couldn’t find him or was unable to figure out who it really was so he hired a fake and when the real Mandarin found out he then comes and, like you said, Obliterates him! lol that’s just my guess.

There should have been a mid credit scene where they show his
fake Mandarin character in jail sitting seriously and all of a sudden
all the ten rings in his fingers light up with their symbols, the light
shines on his face and he gives a big evil smile!!

  • bitferret

How about they pull a Kaiser Soze? That would go a long ways in redeeming Iron Man 3 to me.

  • HuggerOfTROLLZ

    I like it!
If they go otherwise, I would also be okay if he becomes The Mandarin…
Via coming into contact with the Rings, etc.

  • Tequilero

Kingsley was always the Mandarin – it was all just a “show”. It was way too “funny/obvious” in the movie.

The ten rings is a confirmed antagonist in the IM movies. There is only 1 char the 10 rings can belong to.

  • Tequilero

Kingsley really being the Mandarin is as obvious as Palpatine being Darth Sidious in episode 1. If u cant see it, your blind.

But here is the same thing – 90% of viewers dont realize it even though its O B V I O U S.

  • Topper

I stayed after the credits to see if trevor was the real mandarin and all i’ve got was a “FUCK YOU” from marvel
