While Kellvin has been single handedly crushing the Star Wars scoop game on his own and currently working on even MORE Star Wars scoops, the following tidbit proves interesting.

This comes via the cool dudes over at Jedi News out of England. Attendees of the European Brand Licensing Show were given a brochure, and within the magazine was the following page detailing Disney’s plans for Star Wars over the next two years. Check it out below.

star_wars_brochure

This is a page from the Disney brochure given out to the attendees of the European Brand Licensing Show. This is the detailed current calendar plan from Disney for the Star Wars brand. Plenty of little bits of info that will stir much debate and discussion:

  • Star Wars Mobile LEGO games following on from successful app releases of the Batman and Harry Potter platform ports. Coming in Spring / Summer 2014.

  • A Star Wars Digital Library is to launch in Autumn / Winter 2014.

  • Confirmation that the plan remains for Star Wars Episode VII to be released in the Spring / Summer of 2015.

  • But perhaps the most surprising, exciting and fast approaching news is the release of “Darth Vader Themed TV Specials.”

I guess that settles it then? Until either Kellvin or the studio tell you otherwise.

Until the next Star Wars scoop…

I would prefer a summer release, so this is good news. Besides it sticks with tradition and it allows for kids to get all fired up about the toys they want for Christmas.

  • moviefan

i too would like to see star wars stay in the summer. But with marvel via disney already going to have antman and avengers 2 out there it would be foolish to have star wars come out closely to the other two since they will be going for the same target demos. I still think they are going to put star wars at nov/dec slot that antman left.

  • CoolwhipSpecial

Agreed. Have to have it in the summer.

  • moviefan

as great as a summer release would be where would you put it with avengers getting may, and antman in july. As i pointed out since all three are disney films it would be silly to all three out near the same time which would effect each film’s box office preformances. I would expect disney would want to get the most bang for their buck and it would be better to have them all spread out. Since all three will be going for same target audience.

  • Vos_L

That’s obviously old info that was printed before they said they were going to move it to the end of 2015.

  • WalrusApocalypse

Antman is coming out Summer 2015? Better move Star Wars!

  • moviefan

    that what i think too

  • Harry

I’d prefer it in May as that’s when all the star wars films have been released before. But if that means it’s going to be rushed, then I can wait.

  • ThisBethesdaSea

I hope to god Vader isn’t brought back. Let him go. Let a new iconic nemesis arise. Next, there’s no way in hell that they will release Episode VII at Christmas. Star Wars has always been summer fare. It will remain thus.

  • Chris Groves

I still think that December 18th, 2015 will be the release date. Unless everything is under super-mega lock-and-key…it simply isn’t moving along fast enough for Episode 7 to make a summer date. How many months has Avengers: Age of Ultron had it’s May 1st, 2015 release date?

Also, they aren’t going to release Age of Ultron on May 1st and then turn around and release Episode 7 the same month. Those are two mega-properties, each capable of grossing north of $1.5 Billion. Disney won’t risk cannibalizing their audiences in such a short span of time, they’d like to see both of these movies spend weeks as the #1 film in the world, it won’t happen if they open 3 weeks apart. They want them BOTH to shatter records, that won’t happen if they open 3 weeks apart.

  • Chris Groves

The Darth Vader Themed TV-Specials COULD be something amazing. The original trilogy from Darth Vader’s perspective? How amazing would that be? A way to “re-tell” the original trilogy without getting the flames for outright re-making them.

Or it could simply be covering some of Vader’s adventures from between Episode 3 and 4, as he hunts down Jedi and etc.

  • Ethel the Frog

No one has said anything official about it being moved to later in the year.

  • ThisBethesdaSea

I don’t think there’s been any reports as to how far along Episode VII is. Again, there’s just no way they’re breaking with history and releasing Star Wars in winter.

  • moviefan

That is too why i think it might take antman former nov slot. Sure it would then mean it goes again bond. But its counter programing and better to go against bond then go against there own property. Or if they want like chris mentioned take dec slot to give a few weeks away from bond.

  • WTF?

    Hold on….
Wasn’t this site an advocate of the LATE 2015 release date? And now you are trying to tell us that Kellvin has the same credibility as the studio itself?
    You guys crack me up!!!!

  • Chris Groves

We’ll have to see. The original film was initially slated for December of 1976 before being moved back…and it’s not like summer isn’t crowded. I mean, even just looking at Disney’s slate, summer 2015 is loaded, and throw in the major tent-poles from other studios, and it just seems like it wouldn’t make much sense to release Episode 7 then.

But if they picked December 18th, then movies like Warcraft and Inferno would move in a heartbeat, and Star Wars would dominate the holiday season.

  • AaronianKenrod

Age of Ultron and Star Wars are both on the same production schedule (roughly), they both start shooting in January/February time.

  • Chris Groves

Some reports say Star Wars won’t start filming until as late as the end of March. But beyond that, films can be “done” and the release can be held off on. There is no rule that a film has to be released X amount of months after filming completes.

The fact of the matter is that Age of Ultron has had a release date set for months(maybe over a year now?) and Episode 7 still has only rumors, while everyone involved keeps insisting that they aren’t rushing it.

Kennedy even came out and said at one point that they won’t even force a 2015 release date.

  • ThisBethesdaSea

They announced EVII a year ago…so there’s been all of this time for prep, conceptualization, etc….this film isn’t being rushed. The last reports had filming commencing in January. I’d say there’s been no rumor.
