Will Wonder Woman Appear in ‘Batman vs Superman’?

WonderWomanWill Wonder Woman appear in Batman vs Superman? That question has been asked a lot lately, and will be asked until there is an official “yea” or “nay” from the filmmakers.

Variety interveiwed Greg Silverman, Warner Bros.’s president of creative development and worldwide production, and asked him about Wonder Woman, as well as The Green Lantern and The Flash.

“We have been doing a lot of thinking for years about how to best use all those characters and we love them,” Silverman said. “Wonder Woman is an amazing character. I think it’s a great opportunity both for box office success, but also to have an amazingly powerful female superhero.”

Will Wonder Woman get a solo film, or will she be a part of BvsS?

“We are taking it all very seriously and are trying to do a plan that’s respectful to those characters and maximizes the stories as best they can,” Silverman said, dodging the question. “So everything that has been speculated are things that we’ve thought about.”

And what about the casting of Ben Affleck (who, I predict, will rock this role)?

“We knew going in that we had more information than the general public had. We knew what the take of the movie was, we knew what the character was going to be. We don’t take these decisions lightly. We thought about everybody — brand new people, established people. Ben is the perfect guy to play this role.”

    No.

  • Darth Kaos

it seems they’re kinda writing this movie as they go……not good. not good.

  • TJW

Not really, it sounds like they’re just not sharing everything with random schmucks on the internet, as is their right.

  • Calvin Hobbes

Y’know, I wouldn’t be averse to seeing this if Wonder Woman had a decent cameo. It might make the idea of Batfleck a lot easier to swallow, to be honest.

  • vernsviews

They at least should to a tease like Thor’s hammer in Iron Man 2. It would give actual buzz and get the ball rolling. It’s really just plain b.s. that Wonder Woman hasn’t had a film yet. It’s a simple plot. She’s a role model for girls is dressed sexy as hell for the horny geeks. How hard is this to actually make?

  • Doc

I don’t know ask the catwoman herself = Halle Berry

  • AlexiasLazar

If the WB & DC have their act together, they would be screen testing potential WW’s with Cavil & Affleck. Should they find the right Woman, I bet they throw her in the end to build the Trinity.

I do hope they bring in Oliver, Harper and Barry from “Arrow” – would be a waste not to use them & reintroduce those characters on the big screen.

Still waiting for my Booster Gold TV show…

  • vernsviews

That movie had nothing to do with DC comics other than the name.

  • dc is better

To all that are hating on this movie grow up you know you will be standing in line just like me to see this in the theatres and you wanna know why people don’t make a big deal when a marvel character gets cast or miscast cause no one cares like for example the mandarin or old bald fat james spader as ultron or the latest Michael b Jordan as human torch kids wanna be superman and batman when they grow up not thor or punisher when a civil rights movement is going on or a peace protest whether in the USA or in Africa they are wearing a SUPERMAN shirt not a spider-man one LMAO!!!

  • vernsviews

False plenty of people want another Punisher film like War Zone. Movies aren’t just for children. That mentality is why it’s taken so long to get quality comic book movies.

  • Calvin Hobbes

    Agreed.

  • Darth Kaos

I was writing that in general (as a statement). I could really care less about getting any info on this abortion of a movie.

  • TJW

Is that why you clicked on the article titled “Will Wonder Woman appear in ‘Batman vs. Superman’?” Because you didn’t want any information about the movie?

  • Darth Kaos

No, I was only expressing my opinion on the upcoming Superman vs Batman, or whatever they’ll call it – Movie.

I’m not allowed to do that unless its something you agree with?

  • TJW

You’re allowed to have any opinion you want. It’s just funny how you are trying so hard to pretend like you don’t care about the movie, when you clearly do.

  • Darth Kaos

    K. (being sarcastic)

  • vernsviews

Arrow Oliver doesn’t seem like he would fit. He’s not even a full time viligante like Batman in his city. I don’t see him being part of any Justice League type event. Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Flash are the core. Maybe Green Lantern. I’d say add Cyborg for ahem “color”. Aquaman can be done right and added if needed.

  • Hephaestus1

    So…any actual news here?

  • Paul Lane

    My choice Beyonce.

  • Tavaris M Johnson

Something tells me she’s in the film

  • I ain’t racist

    HAHAHAHAHAHAA!
How about Adam Brody as BLACK Panther.

  • AlexiasLazar

This is Season 2 of Arrow. By the time a JLA movie would get off the ground, Arrow will be in Season 6 at least. Since there are plans for a Flash TV spinoff, it is my humble opinion that TV is where the minor characters will be farmed – saving the big guns for the big screen.

  • Yup

Oh okay Marvel troll posing as a some random Batman vs Superman hater. Over half of Marvels films are abortions also and that is my opinion but I don’t see you crying about that don’t you? Yeah, I’m sure you are a better writer and director than Goyer and Snyder right. Come on…just admit you think that.

  • Zzzzzzz

Marvel films are so freakin overrated. Their act is getting tired and they just over saturating the market. Over half their films have been below average. Funny how Marvel plants…I mean fanboys forget about that.

  • trollhunter

Uhhh….they have been developing this movie since MOS was in post production. You just didn’t know about it. You still don’t anything about it!

  • oxman212

I agree with the Goyer/Snyder thing, I’m so sick of that.

But why is everyone complaining about which one’s better?

    Can’t you just appreciate BOTH?!
I’ve waited for both Marvel AND DC to have big franchises on the big screen, and now that it’s happening, people complain?!

  • Brian Knockin

I love Marvel and DC I hope they both make great movies!! Really tired of some of Marvels great franchises bombing and also some my fav DC properties!! The Man Of Stell gave me the willies though omg I watched two times on opening day lol n payed for both haa

  • Brian Knockin

It is a must kinda kinda I just really hope it is good cause I cant wait to see

  • oxman212

Or maybe the idea of Batfleck would be easier to swallow if you just waited until you at least see him in action…

  • oxman212

It’s pretty likely, since it looks like a JLA movie is next in line, unless the rumors are true and there’s a Flash movie before that.

  • Brian Knockin

Please add Aquaman omg!! Yes! Cyborg hmm that can go either way maybe he come later but yes to Aquaman and Hawk Man

  • oxman212

    Green Lantern is core…

  • Brian Knockin

damn lol We need his movie but lets talk DC here sheeesh

  • oxman212

You’re right about minor characters in TV.

But did you just say the Flash is a minor character?

  • Brian Knockin

Wonder woman should be in the movie a good role and Green Lantern I dont care if tis still “Ryan Reynolds” but he should come in at the end like a teaser

  • Rusty Elbows

She won’t be in the movie if they are smart.

Having the three of them would be way too much without a proper introduction for Wonder Woman, plus the new villain in the film. There would be no time to devote to the characters and she’d essentially be reduced to a cameo.

I’d love to see her done right on film, but don’t jam-pack Superman just to get her in the mix.

Perhaps they will suggest she exists within the universe and leave it at that for a future appearance.

  • MIXTER

People may hate me saying this, but Katie Perry would be THE perfect Wonder Woman!! (Visually of course!) I don’t know if she an act, but she has the look.

Though, I personally don’t wanna see her in this movie, but by the time Avengers gets here.

  • Dan Riedel

    Yea…on Netflix ;)

  • Dan Riedel

And the fact that Warner Bros OWNs this film and DC comics, as well as the Schumacher Batman.

  • Darth Kaos

Its amazing, anyone who is opposite in a opinion is considered a troll. I’m not crying about anything, you’re the one getting all all upset cuz my opinion differs from yours.

So by your own definition, your the troll, a DC Troll.

And yes, I’m a better writer than Goyer. Totally. A good writer isn’t based on success.

  • STFU

^^^^^ TROLL EXPOSED^^^^^^ “better writer” and “make a better movie”

  • Darth Kaos

Why I’m a troll for expressing an opinion? You’re doing the name calling….why aren’t you a troll? Explain.

  • AlexiasLazar

Poorly phrased, my bad. The Flash is a unique exception. Again, I am having a fanboy dream, but the Flash is a great character to develop on TV then move to the big screen as planned. Grant G. is young but could grow into the role and not overshadow the “Big 3″ when it is JLA time.

  • Piablo

Wonder Woman is tough to make because the writers default to politically correct story lines and feminist junk. As soon as people start talking about female ‘role model’, it’s over.

  • Piablo

You have to think creatively. How about supporting? The Dark Knight Rises featured Batman, Bane, Commissioner Gordon, Cat woman, John Blake, Alfred… That’s a lot of characters and none of it felt cramped.

  • rsixsmith

olivia munn, imho. when i saw her punch a guy on the newsroom this summer, i knew it was true. katy perry’s hot and definitely has a linda carter quality, but she’s just a little girly. she’d be a good donna troy. ww is definitely going to to be in this, if only on batman’s monitor or something. i don’t get why they can’t come up with a good story for her on the big screen. would’ve been nice to see what joss whedon’s film would’ve been like.

  • Darth Kaos

Never I said I was great (obviously you think you can correct grammar, yet you can’t read it), but I’m better. Thanks for helping me make my point.

  • Piablo

Look son, you just responded to me saying “Never I said I was great…” Come on…

  • Darth Kaos

one, I aint your son. two, if you what to give the impression that you’re better than me. You win.

    Feel better now?

  • MIXTER

I’m so glad i googled olivia munn!!! Yes i agree!

  • axebox

Wonder Woman is a big character. All those other characters you mentioned support Batman, who is also a big character.

  • rsixsmith

thought you might be. have a nice day :)

  • rsixsmith

he probably cares more about the characters than the movie. i thought tdkr was totally snoresville and nolan’s whole take on batman kinda disappointing. why clip batman’s wings for the unimaginitive literalists in the the audience. oh yeah, $$$$$$. doesn’t stop me from checking out all the articles here about it and nolan and goyer’s post tdkr movies. obviously doesn’t stop me from sharing my two cents no matter who wants it or not or whether anyone agrees or not. incidentally, i am looking forward to batman v. superman, because i can’t help myself. also, i didn’t think man of steel was bad at all. some nitpick stuff, but it wasn’t even close to what a disappointment superman returns was.

  • DKnight007

    ^^^
    Idiot exposed. Lol

  • vernsviews

It would be nice to have John Stewert and he makes mention that Hal is off planet or something. I’m not really big on Hawk man.

  • vernsviews

Whenever whomever they pick for Wonder Woman needs to be physically imposing. She can’t look dainty. It may be magic but she needs to look like she can go toe to toe with Superman. I say someone like Gina Carano she can tone up, get some acting lessons and be great.

See, why do I have to be an idiot? I can’t express an opinion without being called a name? Alrighty then…I’ll just reply with a simple……..fuck you.

  • Darth Kaos

Give me money, and I’ll be happy to.

  • Tim

Thank you, nolans batmans were ok,but not batman at all.

  • Tim

arrow actors are not coming to the big screen, ever.there tv actors and they cant transition from tv to cinema like that,

  • Rusty Elbows

You think Wonder Woman should have the same screen time as John Blake, Commissioner Gordon, Cat woman, John Blake, and Alfred?

They had minor supporting roles, I didn’t say Batman Superman shouldn’t have supporting characters, I said I think Wonder Woman deserves more than a series of brief appearances (what do you want her entire origin, the amazons, and Themyscira explained in a quick montage?) while they also try to develop the Bat/Sup dynamic and possibly Luthor as well?

I know you want to see her but if you think about what I am saying you will realize that it would be best to see her properly as opposed to rushed.

The Dark Knight Rises was incredibly rushed. Time-jumps, Bruce being taken half way around the world as a prisoner and finding his way immediately back to Gotham while being penniless. Alfred left mid-film. The Talia romance (wow you know that was rushed). It’s not really a good example for devotion to character development outside of Batman and Bane.

You can’t just say ‘Oh Amazons now exist’ and leave it at that.

She needs the full treatment like Batman and Superman have gotten.

  • vernsviews

Very well put. She should get a story like Thor where much of the film is set in Themyscira. The DC animated film was done well.

  • oxman212

    That would be awesome :)

and it would give a good gap between Reynolds’ Hal and the new one. I wasn’t either, his presence in a JL film would be awkward unless they really make it work. But I love the whole Thanagarian background to him.

  • oxman212

Still not sure about Gustin myself, but I’ll give him a shot.

The only problem I have with this is that Arrow is good, for a TV show. The dialogue sometimes gets a little awkward and forced. It isn’t too noticeable, but when you compare it to the big-screen franchises, e.g. Superman, Batman, GL, etc. it’ll feel really strange.

If they’re going to tie anything in, I’d rather they tie-in Gotham to the Batman film universe, that way they can introduce all the villains and give much, much more background without having to worry about using villains in the movies and over-crowding it a-la Spiderman 3.

  • civilian

    lucy lawless for wonder woman

  • vernsviews

    She could play her mother.

  • AlexiasLazar

Robin Williams, Jennifer Aniston, Kevin Spacey, Clark Gregg, Tina Fey… I could list all day actors who work both in TV and on the big screen.

  • rsixsmith

exactly. i think begins is the best of them actually. yeah, tdk was a great crime film, but like you say, not really batman. i think tdkr was just a mess that was all over the place and didn’t have enough batman, not by a long shot.

  • DKnight007

Nope. Your getting insulted because you were actually dumb enough to say you are a better writer and director than Goyer and Snyder. Why don’t you take it to another level and just say you are even better than Nolan and you know more about filmmaking? Come on say it Marvel plant….i mean fanboy…..I mean Troll. All of the above!

  • Onyx

I’d rather see Hawkman rather than Aquaman. I always thought Aquaman was so lame.

  • yuuuuuup

Nothing wrong with introducing or dropping hints to WW in this Worlds Finest BvsS film. Then that would be a lead into her own solo film and then we see her in JL film. Teasing WW in BvsS would lead to great buzz for her eventual solo film. The key for a WW solo film to be successful at the box office is to keep the production budget low at around 85-100 million than WB/DC will make a nice profit.

  • Rusty Elbows

Well yeah. That’s literally what I already said.

Perhaps they will suggest she exists within the universe and leave it at that for a future appearance.

They need to do that to help establish a shared universe.
Introducing her in the next film would either derail it, or cheapen her as a character. There’s no time to go into her Amazon story while dealing with Batman vs Superman and possibly Luthor. That was my point.

  • vernsviews

Wonder Woman is the most feminist of characters. She comes from a place of NO MEN. (that’s a joke before the fems attack)

  • vernsviews

Aquaman just get’s shitty stories. Just give him a name, The bad ass trident and the ability to go toe to toe with Wonder Woman and Superman, as it should be. Give him a slight environmental angle and good to go.

  • Onyx

If they could overhaul Aquaman completely then I’d be up for giving him a chance. When I think Aquaman, visions of The Superfriends come to mind and he just sucked so bad on that show.
Showcase his powers and the trident and give him a different suit altogether. No more orange! Lol

  • vernsviews

Hey all my favorite teams wear orange!

Your thoughts of Superfriends is exactly my point. There was that failed CW pilot that gave reason for the orange and green (University of Miami)

A good portrayal of Aquaman and Wonder Woman; the Flashpoint Paradox.
