Ben Kingsley CONFIRMS Our Marvel One Shot Scoop!

benkingsleyOh look Sir Ben Kingsley confirmed our Marvel scoop from last week. That’s the second of our two scoops that got confirmed over the weekend while I was building a gaming PC. For the first one go HERE.

In an interview with Vanity Fair Ben Kingsley himself said:

“I think it may be seen as . . . sometimes [Marvel] tacks on a short film to one of their other releases, maybe on a DVD or something. I haven’t heard anything at all about this. So it’s in progress. It will have to remain under wraps. Marvel was so brilliant in the way they kept the transition from the Mandarin to Trevor Slattery in Iron Man 3. They were absolutely brilliant at it. I so respect the way they dearly want to surprise their audiences. But we will just have to leave it in the realm of rumor.”

Now I know that screenwriter Drew Pearce tweeted:

“One thing I know for sure: nobody’s going to be apologizing for the Mandarin twist any time soon.”

Well guess what? A) Drew Pearce is NOT the screenwriter of the upcoming Marvel One Shot and B) that ain’t a denial either.

Anyway, for those of you who forgot, in the Marvel One Shot, the REAL Mandarin is furious with Aldrich Killian and Ben Kingsley’s character Trevor Slattery for the mockery they made of the real Mandarin’s identity and legacy. The real Mandarin wants to set the record straight.

For my haters out there who don’t think the above is true: now that Ben Kingsley confirmed he is doing a Marvel One Shot do you really believe that the Mandarin IS NOT going to be the focus of the short? Come on man. What could the short possibly be about? Chime in below and keep it clean ya haters!

If they do do that wont they have to do another Iron Man movie to have Mandarin proving his superiority over the “man” who defeated “him”, even if it was Pepper that killed Killian. Or is it going to be a lead in to the more mystical realm of Marvel like Dr. Strange since RDJ said no more Iron Man movies.

Yes, great thought. They should link him with new phase, and Dr. Strange!
But, the one shot is clearly about The Mandarin, the real one…

  • Superpull

They’ve already shown they don’t overly care about comic continuity – so mandarin set up in a one shot to then go on with his “magical” rings to fight a certain magical Doctor in phase 3 who also happens to be a holder of a soul gem (Eye of Agamoto?) which will add to the end game of Avengers 3?

  • KRUSGHROOVE OG

Now I was never a regular Iron Man reader when I was reading comics over 20 years ago. However I could swore that the mandarins were never magical. It was alien tech? So since Marvel has already introduced aliens and will again with “Guardians of The Galaxy”. No to mention alien tech/weaponry has already been seen i.e Cosmic Cube, the Infinity Gauntlet and it’s jewels has been touched upon and I don’t see why its so hard now.

  • Superpull

Cosmic cube isn’t “alien tech”. Don’t want to spoil Thor for you incase you haven’t seen it – but during an Odin exposition whilst reading a book he very clearly states what the cosmic cube is.
And my first line about films not caring about comic continuity is the premise for saying the Mandarin will be “magic”

  • Steve-O

The Eye is in Odin’s Vault

  • Superpull

So is the Gauntlet then. But clearly, after the Collectors aside, it is obvious we are building up to a Gauntlet event. How would that be explained? (After Volstagg & Siffs comments to the Collector it is clear that they wouldn’t have the tesseract and the gauntlet in the same place)

Maybe the gauntlet, Orb of Agamotto, Eye of Warlock, eternal flame and table of life that we saw in Thor 1 aren’t the films versions of them, maybe they’re just a fancy weapons that are something else.

oh, and the Eye of Agamotto is NOT in Odins vault. Something that could be the Orb is in Odins vault and something called Warlocks Eye is in the vault:

You’re crazy if you think RDJ will not do anymore Iron Man movies. That’s actor-speak for “SHOW ME THE MONEY”. Geez, do you think that’s air you’re breathing?

  • Steve-O

Don’t have to be a doughnut puncher.

  • MIXTER

Good way to fix what they did with the Character in IM3, But, what the hell is a “one shot”?

  • Brian Knockin

He will do more lol after Avengers 2 I am sure they already planning part 4 they just are bringing the variables into play which I feel is extra smart I knew Mandarin was never done

  • Barchiel

    I don’t like donuts!!!!!! ARRRRGG!!!!!

  • Barchiel

    OWN’D.

You forgot to include this bit from the interview.

VF: Last week you mentioned that you are working on a secret Marvel project. Since then, there has been speculation that you will be returning as Trevor Slattery in a show-down with the real Mandarin in a Marvel short. Is there any truth to that rumor?

    BK: I can’t confirm that.

honestly i actually really like the twist in iron man 3. i thought it made the film different from all the other comic book movies that have been out there. even though i’m just a fan of superhero movies and not a comic book reader i can understand many of those readers being upset. i’m all for this mandarin one shot as long as it leads to hopefully the mandarin being in one more film in the mcu. if they include him, they should only put him in one more film in order to not milk the character out too much and have him co-villain in a movie (as in not being the only villain in the film or maybe just be a supporting villain). that way the comic book fans are happy, mainstream audiences will be able to see mandarin as how he is: a dangerous marvel villain, and don’t overuse him. smart and it’ll make it seem like marvel wanted to do more with mandarin than just a twist.cause if your gonna do a one shot with most likely the mandarin involved in it, you need to have him in one more film or its just a letdown

This does not confirm your scoop. It only confirms the one-shot is happening. LOL you guys are hilarious. Still waiting on that Planet Hulk movie announcement! LOL

  • ThoseNerds

    Dear El Mayimbe,
I don’t think you get what a one-shot is. The point of one-shots are for fan service, not major universe changing events. Item 47 was an extra bonus to fans not something that has any major effect on the MCU. Agent Carter is the same. Why in the hell would they do a one-shot that would undermine the entirety of a major plot point in a billion dollar movie? For what reason? To please some fanboys? LOL. You guys really don’t get it. Here is my guess as to what the one-shot will be (take note):

Trevor in a comedic gag about him going out and people thinking he is the real Mandarin. Perhaps Killian shows up but not likely. That is all. Cut and print.

kevin fiege has said a thousand times that these roles will be recast as necessary. these characters do not revolve around an actor, they’ve been around for scores of years. he constantly compares iron man to james bond and has stated that this is how he sees the franchise moving along in the future. robert downey jr. is getting old, and quite frankly i’d like to see a more serious take on tony stark. he was pretty damn serious in the books depending on the run. he doesn’t need to be constantly wise cracking. so the “i thought rdj said no more iron man is a moot point. and do you really think they disney and marvel will retire that franchise? are you kidding me?

  • Stunt_Mike

“Marvel was so brilliant in the way they kept the transition from the Mandarin to Trevor Slattery in Iron Man 3…” what the fuuckc? the just kicked in the balls and said “surprice motherfukers” youre owned!
