LR reader passed along the what looks like the teaser poster for the upcoming sequel “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes” starring Andy Serkis, Jason Clarke, Gary Oldman, Keri Russell, Toby Kebbell, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Enrique Murciano, Kirk Acevedo, and Judy Greer.

The film follows a growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.

“Dawn of the Planet of the Apes” is directed by Matt Reeves from a screenplay written by Scott Z. Burns, Amanda Silver, Rick Jaffa, and Mark Bomback.

Twentieth Century Fox will release “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes” worldwide on July 18, 2014.

Have a look at the teaser below.

I loved the first movie. Caesar is one of the most compelling new movie heroes. So is it me or the ape on the horse is Koba, not Caesar? It seems that they were setting up a Caesar/Koba disagreement/struggle in the first, nothing too explicite but one could sense it. Caesar being sympathetic to humans and Koba definitely not.

Love the last movie too. Yea, that’s what I was thinking.

Koba probably will be the one to take over in the end. I wonder where this series is going to go… will they bring in the Psychic Humans? Will a nuke be introduced into the picture?

Only time will tell… I just wish they’d produce these films faster. Hehe, you’d figured that things done in the computer can be saved and re-used later :)

Hoping the fire in the background to the poster will be due to Nukes.
Glad to see Ape on horse action too. Bridging the last film with the original Planet of the Apes, is no easy task. But So far, it looks good.

    Good catch!

Agreed, gotta have the apes on horseback. I wonder if they’ll get on a motocycle too :p
