New ‘Maleficent’ Dream Trailer

maleficent-

During the GRAMMY Awards, Walt Disney Pictures released a new trailer entitled “Dream” for Maleficent, starring Academy Award®–winning actress Angelina Jolie.

The film also co-stars Sharlto Copley (“District 9”), Elle Fanning (“Super 8”), Sam Riley (“On the Road”), Imelda Staunton (“Vera Drake”), Miranda Richardson (“The Hours”), Juno Temple (“Atonement”) and Lesley Manville (“Secrets & Lies”).

Maleficent was directed by two-time Oscar®-winning production designer Robert Stromberg from a screenplay written by Linda Woolverton (“The Lion King,” “Beauty and the Beast”).

This is the untold story of Disney’s most beloved villain, Maleficent, from the 1959 classic “Sleeping Beauty.” A beautiful, pure-hearted young woman, Maleficent has an idyllic life growing up in a peaceable forest kingdom, until one day when an invading army threatens the harmony of the land. Maleficent rises to be the land’s fiercest protector, but she ultimately suffers a ruthless betrayal—an act that begins to turn her pure heart to stone. Bent on revenge, Maleficent faces an epic battle with the invading king’s successor and, as a result, places a curse upon his newborn infant Aurora. As the child grows, Maleficent realizes that Aurora holds the key to peace in the kingdom—and perhaps to Maleficent’s true happiness as well.

Check out the new trailer below.

Maleficent hits theaters on May 30, 2014.

UPDATE: Empire Magazine has posted two new stills from the film, which you can have a look at below.

I expect this movie to be as terrible as Alice in Wonderland or Snow White and the Huntsman but this trailer was actually half decent. Granted those movies had pretty good trailers too…

This is a terrific trailer and the rendition of “Once Upon A Dream” by Lana Del Rey couldn’t be any more perfect. I am truly excited for this movie though I have always been a fan of the original Disney’s “Sleeping Beauty.” If this goes well I hope they start making films on ALL the Disney Villains. Aren’t they doing a “Cruela DeVil” movie? I would love to see a collection of live-action villain point -of-view fills for all the coolest and most memorable Disney Villains. Can you imagine Disney’s “Ursula” or “Jafar”? That would be so sweet!

Malificent is without a doubt one of the best animated villains ever. I long for the Bluray re release of sleeping beauty so that I can get my hands on it.

    I’m confused…
Where’s the VX Makeup on Skeletor?
She looks the same, as usual.

Is it possible this film won’t suck?
