USA Today has debuted some new images from James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy, starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Lee Pace, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, Benicio del Toro, John C. Reilly, Glenn Close, Gregg Henry, Bradley Cooper, and Vin Diesel.

From Marvel, the studio that brought you the global blockbuster franchises of Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and The Avengers, comes a new team – the Guardians of the Galaxy. An action-packed epic space adventure, Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits – Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Peter discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand – with the galaxy’s fate in the balance.

Check out the photos below and the trailer will make it’s debut on ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” tomorrow night.

Rocket’s looking more buff than wondergal..

  • BLITZKREG

Can you believe that racoon is carrying a bug azz gun ? Who the hell does he think he is ?!

  • BLITZKREG

I don’t care how buff she gets…she will never be wonder woman in my eyes.

  • Pickle McDick

The guy with the muscles looks kinda retard looking in the face. Just sayin.

  • Pickle McDick

That pic is hilarious. She needs to bulk up a lot more.

  • Pickle McDick

Farscape with a bit of Dr Who miked in.

  • mingus

Drax isn’t exactly a smart man. Leave the brains to the tree and the raccoon.

  • NatSolo

chris pratt is my man crush. i aspire to be a scruffy looking nerf herder.

  • H.I McDunnough

I really hope this movie can break out and reach a big enough audience to get a sequel. I know its a stretch, but the material is good enough that even non-comic reading fans can enjoy it.

  • Frank

    I thought it’s already getting a sequel.

  • oxman212

Considering she’s only been working out for 1 month.

She’s still got a good 6 months to go, so just wait.

  • Steve Croft

Yeah, Marvels already planning on one. Best to see how this one goes first. It’s the most risky of all the marvel properties at this point.

  • tigerface

She just doesn’t have the frame imo. She can add pounds and pounds of muscle but she will just look kinda freakish like Linda Hamilton in T2. Look at Gina Carano and Ronda Rousey for example they still look feminine but they are physically intimidating at the same time, despite being shorter. Hell, Jaimie Alexander would have been a much better choice even though she’s kinda short as well but look at that picture. Put a tiara on her, a few more pounds of muscle, you got yourself an amazon that is not only beautiful but can also kick your ass.

  • tigerface

Ant-Man isn’t riskier? This cast looks great imo. I’m not so sure about a 70+ year old Hank Pym and an actor, a great funny actor, cast in the role of a super-hero. I’m looking forward to watching GotG a hell of a lore more than this version of Ant-man. Pym invented Ultron, that would have been a much better way to introduce Ant-man to the Marvel cinematic universe. Yes, Stark accidentally creating an A.I. like Ultron kinda makes sense as well, but I still think this would have setup and Ant-man movie much better.

  • tigerface

I liked Lee Pace’s portrayal of King Tranduil in the second Hobbit movie, he brought a good level of douchebaggery to the role. I don’t know if he can pull off Ronan the Accuser though. That’s one big hulking dude, unless they’re gonna go the CG route. Now, THAT is a bad ass looking Gamora. I was worried when I saw an earlier pic but Zaldana looks more bad ass here. Batista looks intimidating as hell as Drax but he can also pull off funny moments quite well. I’m really excited about this movie but I don’t know what the f Marvel is waiting for to start promoting it. We’ve barely seen any publicity at all for this movie, no teasers, trailers nothing and it’s supposed to be out in 6 months.

  • moviefan1

I always thought that Gemma Arterton would have been the perfect casting.

  • Brian Baker

Everyone wanted her, including DC, but she’s locked into a marvel contract, and there’s no way they will ever let their actors work on DC properties.

  • Daniel Dennison

  • Chris

    Go suck a pickle, McDick.

  • Vegas82

Looks even better in motion than it does in the pictures. Can’t wait for this flick to drop.

  • Vegas82

He said one of. Not the most.

  • Peter James

    >>>” Hell, Jaimie Alexander would have been a much better choice even though she’s kinda short as well …”

Jaime Alexander is 5’9″ tall (which is tall enough on its own for a woman) an 6’0″ in heels (which is what she’d be wearing in costume and what she wears as Sif anyway).

How tall exactly are you expecting Wonderwoman to be?

(bear in mind that Henry Cavill is 6’4″)

I think he means Chris Pratt.

  • Nichkhun

Wow! Chris Pratt looks ultra hot. Few times have I seen a man that hot. I’m sold. This will be a hit.

  • Howie

Here’s a question: why’s, what’s t’challa’s dad doing in guardians of the galaxy??

  • Howie

My main concern is they make her look too manly: huge clydesdale thighs that touch, flying squirrel pectoral wings, and a box cheese-grater core; adversely to an hour-glass fit-athletic assassin-warrior woman.

  • Howie

    Gem is only famous/known for having suck’d a prince’s d.
    legal ≠ moral.

  • oxman212

Yeah, yet everyone here seems to think she needs to look like Conan…

  • NatSolo

lol. you can’t be serious. alexander isn’t someone anyone should bring up when arguing against gadot’s physique. a brick shit house she is not. I’d bet good money they’re about the same size.

  • NatSolo

    henry cavill is 6’1.

  • tigerface

I don’t know if a “brick shit house” is supposed to be big and bulky or what. The point I’m trying to make is Gadot is just too skinny to begin with. Regardless of height, even if she packs up 20 lbs. of muscle she will still look like a slender girl with cut-up arms, whereas Jaimie Alexander already has the look down.

  • Steve Croft

Antmans not riskier because they’re scrapping most of that and inserting Tony Stark into it to sidestep most of the history of Pyms involvement etc. Antman, as great as it will be, is a safe bet for Marvel, given it’s got a name actor “Paul Rudd” in the role, Michael Douglass as Hank Pym and Edgar Wright directing. Guardians had James Gunn directing, whose best movie to this point was the slightly overrated ‘Super’, which I incidentally loved either way. It’s a very risky move, with a relatively unknown cast, Zoe Saldana buried beneath makeup, a relative unknown leading, a CGI Raccoon, Bautista is definitely a drawcard though and zero doubt they’ll start cashing in on Vin Diesel as Groots voice soon too. Antman is definitely risky to a degree but not as much of a risk as Guardians, Antman doesn’t have to create a new lore, it doesn’t have to establish a new ‘galaxy’ for itself, new ‘rules’ as such, this movie does. Granted it will integrate with phase 3 movies somehow but at this point, unlike the other movies, it has to stand apart on its own two feet (stumps?) unlike Antman which can stand on the shoulders of The Avengers, Ironman etc etc.

  • tigerface

Hmm, Chris Pratt might not be an A-list star, yet, but he is definitely not an unknown. Hell, I would say he’s more bankable/famous than RDJ was when they did Ironman. Nobody wanted RDJ because of his RL drug and alcohol issues. Zoe Zaldana’s pretty recognizable even with the makeup, and so is Batista. They have yet to let us hear Rocket and Groot so that’s gonna create even more buzz.

Let’s face it, most “regular” people who don’t read comics have no clue who Ant-man or the Guardians are so it’s not like they can just drop an Ant-man trailer and everyone’s gonna go crazy. I bet their first reaction is gonna be, wth it’s the guy from those Apatow movies playing a super-hero? is it a comedy? Being familiar with the characters from both movies beforehand, I feel that Guardians will have an easier time being accepted by audiences that are being exposed to these characters for the first time. Maybe it’s just me but I just can’t get over the fact that they’re changing Hank Pym so much and going with Scott Lang as the main hero. Imagine someone starting a Green Lantern movie (they need to after that atrocity starring Ryan Reynolds) and having Hal Jordan be an old, retired guy, while Kyle Rayner is the one wielding the ring. It might be a good movie but it still won’t feel like a Green Lantern movie without Hal Jordan kicking ass.

They can do so many things with Guardians, while I have no idea how they’re gonna make Ant-man compelling. I think the most interesting parts of Ant-man was Pym being a founding member of the Avengers and his marriage with Wasp, then accidentally creating Ultron. Now they’ve taken all of that away and left him with… a guy that can shrink? I hope they prove me wrong I really do I just don’t know how they’re gonna draw audiences in with this cast and story.

  • NatSolo

jaimie has no look down. she’s about the same size as gadot.

The things you talk about though, they’re only things that will matter to a fan. Someone coming into it fresh wont *care* about Hank Pyms legacy beyond ‘Oh hes the old scientist dude who created the suit I see…’.

Iron Man had Jeff Bridges, Gwynneth Paltrow, RDJ (fresh off Kiss Kiss Bang Bang btw which revitalised him in terms of credibility, Iron Man shot him into the stratosphere, granted). But if you ask ANYONE in the general audience who Chris Pratt is? You will, 99.9% guaranteed get a look of ‘Who the fuck?’ Maybe you’ll get ‘Is he the guy from the IT Crowd? Or is he the guy who played Kirk?’

Put away the geek goggles, the geek brain and think regular audience. Your pre knowledge of Pym and Lang won’t matter to them, they won’t care. Ant Man will sell itself on Ant Man being linked to the Avengers, I guarantee it, as one of the first Phase 3 movies, as well as Dr Strange, they would be stupid not to (they’ve done it with all the others anyhow to this point).

Guardians is still linked via Thanos of course and the ending of Thor 2, but again this movies going to rely on things like Groot and Rocket Raccoon for marketing to kids. Bautista is going to be a major drawcard more than any other actor in there at this point.

They’re both risky ventures, the riskiest is yet to come though. That’s going to be Dr Strange. Which dabbles in demons, magic and the occult, which by all means should be awesome.

As long as they fucking well DONT cast Johnny Depp…
